Plot/Storyline:

Shortly after the 1984 All-Valley Karate Tournament, John Kreese attacks Johnny for his loss. Miyagi intervenes and immobilizes Kreese, threatening a deadly blow, but instead “honks” Kreese’s nose. Johnny and his friends then leave a humiliated Kreese and Cobra Kai behind.

Six months later, Daniel LaRusso returns from the senior prom with his car badly damaged. He vents to Miyagi, claiming that Ali not only wrecked his car but also dumped him after falling in love with a football player from UCLA. He is also upset that his mother has received a business opportunity in Fresno, and that he will have to move there. Miyagi tells Daniel that his mother has agreed to let Daniel stay with him. Miyagi then receives a letter notifying him that his father is sick, prompting him to return to his home village of Tomi on Okinawa Island. Though initially reluctant, Miyagi allows Daniel to come along. He explains that many years ago, he fell in love with a woman named Yukie who was promised to his best friend Sato. Rather than fight Sato to the death, he fled to the United States.
